I am plotting a real-time .csv data file which has a date field and a time field in each record. Date is YYYY/MM/DD format, and Time is HH:MM:SS.
I can't figure out how to use date and time as the X axis values on my plots. Otherwise, everything works correctly using the index field for the x-axis, but that isn't what I want. All the examples show using the index for the x-axis, but that is meaningless in my time stamped data. How do you configure Kst to use at least the time field for the x axis values? In the Date/Time Interpretation section in Configure ASCII File, the formatted string field says to "refer to the documentation for QDateTime for details". I can't locate that documentation. I couldn't find a section for Kst data viewer and ended up in Forum Feedback. I apologize for posting in the wrong place. There is no Kst in the app dropdown list. Any suggestions? Thanks, John |

I ran into this problem several years ago. Short answer - KST is not capable of doing this.
Switch to LabPlot. It has no problem using time and date labels along the X-axis. Bill Gee |

Bill, Thanks for the reply. I will check out LabPlot. I can still use KST to get a quick look at the data, without getting too analytical.

I have found LabPlot to be far superior to KST in all respects. For one it is in active development. KST has not seen an update in years and probably will never have another.
For some examples of simple graphs that use date and time on the X-axis, take a look at https://carrollcave.org/?p=4048 There is a ZIP file attached to the post which has a bunch of graphs and the data files that were used to generate them. Bill Gee |
