I'm happily sending photos from my phone to my Windows PC with KDE Connect. Yet KDE Connect on my PC, paired with my phone, with KDE connect open on both ends, I tell it to send a file and nothing happens.

Been mentioned here a few times. Android made some changes and nowadays you need to create a folder on your phone for it. Have you done that?

No. How do I do so? I assume I have to tell it where this folder is? I can see nothing in the settings for that. |

Damn, can't remeber really. But I think you'd need to go in the android app>three dots(top right)>plugin settings>file system>configure which folder.....ish. With these new android ( for the "sake of security ) settings there's some stuff you won't be able to do. But, in either case, I think the settings should be done like I said. The bright minds at Google's lunatic inn made it easy on the user. Depending what file manager you use on your device, the files can be garbled up at times. As an example, I have both Download and Downloads on the phone now and, depending on the fm, sometimes the files are separated, sometimes mixed.

It already had the music folder (a folder in the root of the drive) set in there (but I don't think it was ticked, I'm not sure). Not sure if I successfully used that in the past, because that's where I have a lot of music files. I might have resorted to a USB cable.
I created a new folder called "kde" inside "downloads". (I tried to make it use the "downloads" folder, but typical stupid over the top Android said it wouldn't give it permission to save there, even thought that's where 99% of everything gets put by 99% of programs!) I then tried to transfer a small jpeg file from my Windows PC to the phone, and it looked like it had gone (no error message), but the file isn't there. I then tried a larger file (a few MB mp3), and it gave me a dialog box on the PC saying transferring, but only sent the first 600KB then got stuck. Nothing happened on the phone. Looks like KDE is badly broken and at the moment is a one way system. |

Nope, kde isn't broken. It's the android part. It's not broken either but if you looked it up, you can't use download or a newly stupidly created subfolder inside download. If you want some sort of download, you'd need to create something like dooownload. Like I mentioned in my previous post, download-variant isn't good either because in certain android fm's they tend to mingle. Myself I created a new Phone Download folder.https://imgur.com/a/OFeHETN

Android is very broken as it prohibits everything. It's stopping me using my own phone, it's got as bad as Linux!
KDE is also very broken as every other program can save into downloads folder. Why do you call me stupid for creating a folder within downloads? The phone allowed me to select that for KDE. And why isn't Android or KDE reporting an error instead of just doing nothing? Just can't get decent programmers nowadays. So I tried making a folder called KDE in the root directory, and it still doesn't work. |

Yep, the world's falling apart. I'm sure there are wonderful programmers in windowz wonderland. You're just one of the unfortunate ones for which the bad linux **** doesn't work. Have a nice.

There are rubbish things in Windows. But at least I have control of my own property. I have to run Linux for one particular program, and it's horrible. The program requires setting options in a config file. A simple editing of a text file. But no, Linux says the file doesn't belong to me, the owner of the computer, the person who installed the OS, the person who installed the program, the file belongs to the program and cannot be edited. I gave up and forced the stupid thing to log in as root. Same reason people root their phones, to get the over protective nanny nonsense off there.

I got it from the website, I don't use stores on Android or Windows. |
