OpenSUSE 11.1; KDE 4.1.3
How can I set or provide a user name and password for a Microsoft Windows network drive in KNetAttach? It seems to assume anonymous access only. Is there another application I should be using that has this same or similar functionality in KDE 4.1 that would accept a user name and password? AndrewR |

In System Settings under Sharing you can enter the default log-in details to use on Samba / MS Windows shares.
This doesn't always work, but it goes farther than anonymous. Blame MS. |

Thank you for the reply, splurben.
Could you please provide more detail as to where you are finding 'System Settings under Sharing'? I can't seem to find that. I'm starting to think that KNetAttach does not have the ability to connect as anything other than anonymous to any sort of share which I find kind of odd as KRDC handles username and password credentials just fine. Don't know what was going on before (probably user error :-$ )but on accessing the server KNetAttach now prompts for my login credentials. Weird, but I'm happy it's working!

IMO the no1 cause of this problem is the default activation of a firewall (eg in SUSE). If the firewall's on with its default settings then you don't get the user/password request box.
