KDE 4.2.2 and Qt 4.5.0?

Sun Apr 05, 2009 12:06 am
Not sure if this is the best sub-forum for this (so feel free to move it if necessary) but I was wondering...

Is there someplace to look for potential gotchas if you run KDE 4.2.2 (or any 4.2.x version) together with Qt 4.5.0? And yes, I know there are no guarantees as far as that combination goes.

As far as I can tell, the only problem is with lancelot, but other than that I haven't run into any issues so far but it would be nice to know in advance of other potential problems.

If there are any issues, they should be reported...

I've been using Qt 4.5 and I haven't seen any issues ever since 4.2.1 was released. There was a nice gain in performance, though.

They should indeed, which is what I will do if I run into any more (the lancelot one is already known).

Good to hear. Personally, I'm not sure if the performance gain (and the disappearance of the corrupted-systray-icons bug) is due to Qt 4.5.0 or the latest nvidia-driver but regardless of where it was solved it's nice to have it solved :)

That was solved with Qt 4.5. ;)
In fact, I read about them fixing the systray on one of the Qt developers' blog.

KDE 4.2.1 and Qt 4.5 had a lot of problems with character encoding (file names, copy & paste, character conversion, etc...), but some seems to be solved in KDE 4.2.2, for example, I can delete files using Konqueror & Dolphin again and copy & paste between Konqueror an Amarok works always.
