Hi out there
On our Linux-Desktop we use the KPrinter Dialog. Settings are saved in our Documents and Templates (ott). But..... We have a lot of old documents (MS-Office) or OOo-Documents from outside. Printing one of thise documents, our users have to change the Printername to KPrinter manually. I'm looking for a way to set KPrinter as Default Printer in OpenOffice (2.4). Any idea? Thanks

Locate the application spadmin, which you can find in one of the system directories of openoffice (it is in the directory /usr/lib/ooo-2.0/program on my computer). That application can be used to manage the printers in openofffice. Select kprinter in it and set it as default.

Thanks for the proposal.
Unfortunately our Common Unix Printing System (CUPS) overwrites the default spadmin setting immediately. And K-Printer is not a "Real-Printer" and not visible in CUPS. greetings Urs

Try starting openoffice like this:
export SAL_DISABLE_CUPS=1; This will disable CUPS in Openoffice. You can edit the menu to automatically run openoffice like this. example: export SAL_DISABLE_CUPS=1; oowriter For Writer.
KDE Sysadmin

What is the best type of printer and where can I use one? I need to print just a few small documents in the best quality possible. It needs to be perfect. I have a 300 DPI image to make sure it prints perfect, now all I need is an excellent printer. Do you know where there are public printers that I can pay to use? And what type of printer is the best?
