Google software never goes final. Even GMail is still in beta, the only thing not in Beta is the search products ( general, images, maps, etc. ). Google talk, earth, etc. are all still in Beta.

I personally wouldn't give up my Firefox yet. On windows, my taskbar is on the top and autohiding (not my setup, just that's the most common computer I use), so I get really annoyed when it pops open the taskbar when I'm tryin gto change a tab. It doesn't integrate well either, and the lack of plugins are disappointing.
I use gtk-engines-kde4 to make my firefox look like the rest of KDE so I'm happy. But I'll definitely be looking at Chrome, Firefox recently has been lagging a tad bit. Hopefully when Chrome gets actually ported to Linux and not like GTalk where they just avoid the issue and run off ![]()

Let me ask a slightly different question. Why should I try Google chrome? Any special features?
I'm just starting to expore Opera. I like the way I can make a custom widget out of any RSS Feed ![]() Here's a widget I made in about three minutes of the discussion and opinions forum on this site. If you have opera, you ought to be able to run it yourself by clicking here.

If you, like me, have hoped, Google Chrome for Linux would make use of Qt, guess what: Linux Version of Chrome To Use Gtk+
I can't understand that decision at all: Qt integrates wonderfully in Gtk and Gtk-based Desktop Environments, but not vice versa. Gtk is dated, slow and bloated. Why repeat the same mistake Mozilla has done with Firefox? Google has used Qt in the past (Google Earth), why not this time? |

Same feeling of disappointment here.
Google Chrome will fall in the YAYGA category: Yet Another Yucky Gtk App I believe this is a political decision, and not a technical one.... Wonder what the moving force behind it is though....

I'm less disappointed and more annoyed by the absurd reasons that were given. But considering Thom Holwerda didn't actually mention where that statement was made (whether in a site or private correspondence), I will try to hold final judgment...
But still, the reasons are truly out of this world. c.f. http://www.purinchu.net/wp/2009/02/15/google-chrome/ But to the original question... I actually can't seem to find anything special in Chrome other than the "one process per tab".

At least I hope they apologise for their stupid reasons. Personal preferences are fine, but those reasons are just garbage, and they are also quite offensive to the developers who work on Qt. ( Gtk on Windows is the imitator, not Qt. Goodger should get his facts straight )
