I have the latest released KDE via my distribution, sidux.
For the first time since using KDE, I have a problem. I can't get eclipse working. I've tried the current release, 3.5 galileo and the previous release, 3.4. I've tried several Java versions; two from Sun and openjdk. I get crashes whenever I start a new project. I am using the standard eclipse download, not a package. I get the feeling that Eclipse doesn't work with KDE or qt4, but I can't find any answers. I get consistent and logged jvm crashes, but the log file contents are not very helpful to me. All I note is that I get crashes in three different java environments, all of them stable. I'm quite happy to report bugs to eclipse, but I first would like to know if others are having the same problem. I don't learn anything useful from the sidux forums (very unusual, but perhaps no one uses eclipse?) |

Eclipse worked for me with KDE 4 and Qt4. I can't remember such problems. Did you look at the output of Eclipse you get if you start it in Konsole?

I'm sorry for my silly post. The bug has nothing to do with KDE. It's a GTK bug in the latest Debian and Ubuntu GTK packages (probably upstream), so Gnome users are getting it as well (for example, those using the beta of the latest Ubuntu, or me using Debian sid). I thought it was impossible that Gnome would show this bug, but I should have checked that first.
The tempoary fix is: export GDK_NATIVE_WINDOWS=1 and then run eclipse https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=291257 |
