System Monitor Options?

Sat Nov 07, 2009 7:37 pm
Hi all, a few questions as to possible system monitor options:

1. Is it possible to adjust the priority of a process, a la Windows?

2. Is it possible to view which CPU core is handling a process at a given moment?

If you press Strg+ESC you'll get a system monitor (in KDE). Point 1 is possible if you select the first menu entry which appears after right clicking on the process. I don't know if that's like in Windows and I don't know about the second point.

Thanks Jan, I had no idea what "Renice" did. Glad to see it's implemented, and in such a robust fashion to boot.

Can anyone else chime in re: Pt. 2?

I didn't know Windows could adjust a process priority, is it a Vista thing?

No, it's been able to since at least XP. Task Manager>Processes>Priority
