can' t lock my screen

I click whatever I want, panel, desktop, widget, but simply nothing happens, nothing shows. The screen simply remains unlocked. Since I don't know the command, I can't try in a terminal. 4.3.4 on kubuntu. sudo update && sudo upgrade are the most recent ones. I do it daily.
