KDElirc and gnome-mplayer

Fri Jan 08, 2010 8:52 am
Hi,

I'm trying to control gnome-mplayer with a remote control using KDElirc (KDE4.3 openSuse 11).

gnome-mplayer exposes a DBus interface: http://code.google.com/p/gnome-mplayer/source/browse/trunk/DOCS/tech/dbus.txt

It's possible for example to play a movie with:
Code: Select all
dbus-send / com.gnome.mplayer.Play

My problem is that irkick doesn't display "com.gnome.mplayer" in the list of running applications.

I've tried to hack the irckick config file (~/.kde4/share/config/irkickrc) by adding:
Code: Select all
Binding13Arguments=0
Binding13AutoStart=false
Binding13Button=PAUSE
Binding13DoAfter=false
Binding13DoBefore=true
Binding13IfMulti=2
Binding13Method=void Play()
Binding13Mode=
Binding13Object=com.gnome.mplayer
Binding13Program=com.gnome.mplayer
Binding13Remote=mceusb
Binding13Repeat=true
Binding13Unique=true

but irkick crashes when I'm using it.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,
Serge

irKick uses a standard interface provided by KDE applications via D-Bus ( /MainApplication ) to gather information to build its list of running applications.

It may also use this when sending the message to the application. Its unavailability is probably not expected therefore causing the crash.
