I have been trying to use kiosktool to lock down the KDE desktop for use with LTSP. I have noticed that it appears that kiosktool has not been worked on since 2004, which was still in the world of KDE 3 or so. I am using fedora 12 i686 with KDE 4.3.5. I have tried kiosktool as well as manually editing the lockdown files using various guides on the internet, but none of my settings seem to work. Also, kiosktool gives me a segfault when I try to open the dialog to bind a profile to users, but works when i try to bind to groups.
My question is: Are there any updated guides on how to lockdown kde for the 4.x series? Also, is there something like kiosktool or an updated kiosktool, just under a different name? |

Whilst the infrastructure that KIOSKTool administrates is still very much functional within the applications themselves, KIOSKTool itself has not recieved any development at all recently.
As a workaround, you may wish to look at the Techbase guide for System Administrators, which may help performing the needed steps manually.

Well, I did find that but had a few problems. For one, most of the files that guide suggests that I edit no longer exist. As an example, http://techbase.kde.org/KDE_System_Admi ... ic_Log-out suggests that I edit kscreensaverrc. However, I could not find this file(or any like it) anywhere on my system. Has just the directory structure changed? If so, where can I find documentation?

You may need to set a screensaver in order for that file to exist.
