kopete and irc

I am new to kopete and kde so if this is not the place to ask just let me know.

When I use kopete to communicate on irc is there a way to see the server message window? Sometimes there are important updates in the MOTD, and would like to see them.

Which version of KDE are you using? As far as I was aware, the IRC component to Kopete hasn't been ported to KDE 4 yet.
