Postscript! Oops!!!
OK, I found the KDE Help Center in the "Favorites" tab of my Kickoff Apps Launcher. However, in Application Manuals > Multimedia > Recording I found no entries, so no help with KRecord. Can you offer any insights on KRecord? Thanks again. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I am generally VERY happy with my KDE GUI desktop with openSUSE 11.2. I have had trouble before, and I'm having trouble now, seeing 'khelpcenter.' This time, I'm beginning to look at KRecord, which I just installed from the Yast2/openSUSE repository a few minutes ago. Although I can probably work my way through it without instructions, I have a bit of a conservative streak in me, which whispers in my ear that it's not a bad idea to read the instructions. When I click on the top menu choice under 'Help,' which is "KRecord Handbook," the error message window saying, "Could not launch the KDE Help Center: Cound not find service 'khelpcenter." So I went to http://docs.kde.org/stable/en/kdebase-r ... -help.html where it says, "Choose the big K in your panel, and select the Applications tab followed by selecting Help to open KHelpCenter, which will open up to the default welcome page." But when the Applications tab is selected, there is no "Help" indication, hyperlink, or symbol anywhere in that window. So I went to http://docs.kde.org/stable/en/kdebase-r ... anual.html where it says, "KHelpCenter is an integral part of the KDE Base installation, and is installed with every copy of KDE. It can be found in the kdebase-runtime package, and is available from the ftp://ftp.kde.org/pub/kde/, or will be found in your operating system's kdebase-runtime package." I click on ftp://ftp.kde.org/pub/kde/ and I am shown 16 choices. The most lilkely, I suppose, would be the "doc" folder, so I click down to see what's inside it. Of the 17 items there, none is more recent that the year 2001! I looked in my /usr/lib/ and found no directory containing khelpcenter. I went to Yast Control Center, did a search in "Name" and "Description" for the expression "khelpcenter." The result was the message: "No packages matching entered criteria were found ." I'm discouraged. Maybe there's something else you could suggest. But here's a question, first. Last November, I downloaded the .pdf file "openSUSE KDE UserGuide." It has been helpful. Is there any chance that you would have available a .pdf version of 'khelpcenter' which I could download every couple of months to keep current? Or is there some other way either (1) to install an upgradable copy of 'khelpcenter' onto my computer, or (2) be directed to a resource on the kde.org web site where I could access 'khelpcenter' when needed? Thank you
