I decided to upgrade KDE from whatever Kubuntu Lucid comes with (I think 4.3.something) to the new 4.5 Beta 2. After doing so I decided that it was too unstable. But now I don't know how to downgrade back to what I had or down to 4.4.4. I tried removing the ppa with the beta packages, adding the ppa with the normal packages and re-updating but that didn't work. Is there a way for me to downgrade to an earlier version? Or do I have to completely re-install KDE? Thanks!

have you seen this http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/index.p ... =3112331.0?
it suggests you do a ppa-purge If this doesn't work and you don't get resolution here I'd suggest posting on the official Kubuntu forums as this is a Kubuntu specific issue |

Note that if any of the applications you have used under KDE 4.5 have new features, then their configuration file formats may have changed.
It is virtually impossible to downgrade between minor releases as a result, without losing your configuration.

Ah I see... Oh well, I guess I can live with the beta. The ppa-purge didn't work and after seeing what bcooksley said it would probably be more trouble to downgrade than to just stick with the beta. Thanks anyway!
