When I used to have KDE 3.5 I could select text type some control key (can't remember which) and I would be prompted to enter an HTML tag. When finished it would put the tag in front of the selected text and a closing tag at the end of the text.
I can't find how to do that since upgrading to KDE 4. (I'm using Kate 3.4.2 and KDE 4.4.2) |

It is not in KDE 4.4, but will be back in KDE 4.5, see the Dokumentation:

Hello, I have KDE 4.5.1 and I do not have this plugin. It was really useful so I am missing it. Is there any way to get this plugin back? Perhaps it is possible to install older version of Kate, or something? I would be very grateful for your help in getting that plugin work in Kate. |

Kate in trunk appears to have the "xmltools" plugin, perhaps you need to install a distribution package which is seperate to Kate itself.

Do you perhaps know where I can find such package? |

You should be able to find it in the package manager.

Under what name?
Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but I am not an experienced Linux user. All I know is that I had HTML plugin in KDE 3.5 by default, and in KDE 4.5.1 I do not have it. |

I would suggest doing an initial search for "kate" and seeing if anything like kate-plugins-* exists.

I opened synaptic and searched for "kate".
There is kate-plugins package (which I may have manually installed from a file downloaded from Internet), but it is version 3.5.9-2. So I repeat my question - how can I obtain HTML Plugin for Kate in KDE 4.5? |

I would suggest contacting your distribution for this information. Another thing to look for could be "kwrite_*" in synaptic however.

I downloaded ISO from here http://www.kubuntu.org/getkubuntu/download and installed it with a help of a friend, so who should I contact?
I'll try that. |

I suggest the Kubuntu or Ubuntu forums as a method of contacting them.

In kubuntu Maverick it is in the package kate (4:4.5.1-0ubuntu3), you have to enable the pligin in kate's settings.
