solid-hardware mount question

Sat Jun 26, 2010 9:36 pm
Hello!
I want to mount my mp3-player with
Code: Select all
solid-hardware mount /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/storage_serial_COWON_O2PMP_3238204E6F76_0_0

but it returns
Code: Select all
Fehler: In /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/storage_serial_COWON_O2PMP_3238204E6F76_0_0 gibt es keine Schnittstelle namens „StorageAccess“

in english it means there is no interface „StorageAccess“.
What's wrong here?

Please use the command "solid-hardware query 'IS StorageAccess'" to find devices with the StorageAccess type. You are trying to mount a StorageDrive device.

Hi!
That gives this list:
Code: Select all
udi = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/volume_uuid_40308b2d_0045_49e9_9e44_e7f54ab287cb'
udi = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/volume_uuid_785764f8_3663_4a64_853b_59e1206091ad'
udi = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/volume_uuid_88760967_f1bf_47e5_9ce7_6737e0196450'
udi = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/volume_uuid_cba120ee_7801_4473_98e8_658d93af2c8e'
udi = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/volume_uuid_9826EE9A26EE7920'
udi = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/volume_uuid_427C4FC77C4FB507'
udi = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/volume_uuid_f7612866_3418_4355_afc7_965df3fa4cdf'
udi = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/volume_uuid_F0F7_558F'
udi = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/volume_uuid_50d6def0_375e_4041_8925_8fcef66865f2'

How do I find out, which is the player?
Maybe any of these strings could be used:
vendor = 'COWON' (string)
product = 'O2PMP' (string)
??

Unfortunately solid-hardware does not seem to provide the options needed to determine which is the player :(

What does that mean?
No mounting via this way?
Of course mounting via /dev/bla works fine, so it's not the worlds end ;)

The only other way to do this is by checking with the /dev/disk/by-uuid/ where a mapping to /dev/sd* devices exists.
