kopete and irc plugin installation

Fri Jul 09, 2010 6:22 pm
I would like to try the irc-plugin for kopete but the install of the plugin is getting toooo complicated (at least for a newbee like me).
I downloaded and unpacked the irc plugin (113720-irc.tar.qz) and tried to follow the instructions I found. Found out I needed something called libircclient-qt, so I downloaded that and unpacked it. In the install instructions for libircclient it said (and I quote) run the following command qmake -config [debug|release]. Well I do not have qmake and I can not find where to get it. Has someone else done all the complies for the irc plugin and created a deb file that I could just download and install with dpkg? If so were might I find it?

If not I will have to live with one of the other gui irc clients that don't quite measure up to mirc in simplicity and full function (in my opinion).

First, have you tried Konversation?

You will find QMake in the "libqt4-devel" package, or something similarly named.

yes I did try konversation and there are two things I do not like about it.
1: The way it does the colors (Ctrl k) is not good, I do not need a popup window to add a color number.
2: no alias command.

I will look for the libqt4-devel package. Thank you.
