kdropbox lacks menu

Fri Sep 24, 2010 12:18 pm
Hi, I just installed kdropbox but I'm lacking the right-click-menu that is supposed to let me share links to my documents. Is it supposed to be there or is the app not finished yet? Or is there another way to share links to my documents?

Thanks.

If you mean the menu when you right click in e.g. Dolphin, you need to install a service menu, e.g.
http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/Dr ... ent=124416 or
http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/dr ... ent=115336

Thanks, I tried it now but it won't work. Maybe I did something wrong. I downloaded the source and unpacked it. Ran ./install-it.sh, tried if the menu appeared, no luck. Copied all the dropbox-scripts to /usr/bin/, tried again if the menu was there but no luck. What am I missing?

I'm running openSUSE 11.2 with KDE 4.4.4

I assume that you use Dolphin? Check Settings -> Services and see if you find it there and if it's enabled.

Yes it is Dolphin. I can't see it at all in the service list. I also tried clicking "Download New Services" and found "Dropbox servicemenu" but that didn't work either. I've checked that I have all dependencies and I do but it won't work. Maybe a reboot will help? I'll try...

EDIT: Nope, no difference, still no menu

Re: kdropbox lacks menu  Topic is solved

Now I got it working, the install script did not create the ~/.kde4/share/kde4/services/ServiceMenus/ folder and of course didn't copy the .desktop files there. I had to do it manually now. Strange it didn't tell me it failed... Manual labour always pays off! ;)

Thanks for your help!
