I have read that if I choose an empty password for KDE Wallet, the request password dialog is not shown any more. Is the data still stored in an encrypted way?
Thanks, heg |

I don't know if it is still encrypted, but the wallet file does not have the raw strings contained in it, so I guess it must be protected somehow.

It would be very nice to know this for sure. At the end, I would like a functionality like this that the wallet is unlocked when I login, but the wallet is encrypted so that root cannot see the content.
Thanks for the info. heg |

Even if it is technically encrypted, I am pretty sure that without a password anyone can access it so it offers no protection whatsoever.

Note that root could simply copy the file off and ask KDE to open it for them, allowing them to peruse it at their discretion. I would recommend having a passworded KDE Wallet in this case.

Is there any way to single sign on process to kde that not only logs in but with the same password unlocks the main wallet?

I believe there is a PAM module somewhere on the internet, which may be able to do this...
