Putting exception in KWallet

Sun Nov 07, 2010 5:17 am
Can I put exception in KWallet? I dont want to put kwallet restrictions on basic stuff like internet connectivity. It becomes quite annoying to put password for every application. Or even to put one password right after login into system with login password.

You can use separate wallets. One unsecure with an empty password and one secure with a strong password. In kwallet's options this is called local wallet. After setting the local wallet up, drag the entries from the old wallet and drag them to the local one.

Well I created a separate wallet and copied the network credentials. However it is again asking me for the password. How do I tell which wallet to use?

Did you copy or move? They should not be present in the standard wallet anymore. Also have a look at the configuration dialog of KWallet. There should be a standard wallet plus the option to use a local wallet. Is that set to your local wallet?

I do not remember, but eventually you need to make adjusments in the second tab of the configuration dialog as well. That would be deleting the entries listed under your standard wallet and refering to the applications you want to be handled by your local wallet.

Sorry that I am not more specific but I am to lazy to switch the application language at the moment. ;)

I moved from main wallet to local wallet and as you said I modified the settings in configuration. Its working perfectly now, I did test it after rebooting as well. Thanks a lot for your help.
