UPDATE:
Just switched to 4.6 rc1 (also removed the hal daemon) and it's now working correctly. But I wonder why it's showing the firefox bundle. ![]() Ok, I don't know if I should be submitting this here, but the guys over at Chakra asked me to. Anyways, when I was on kde 4.5 or even 4.6 beta 1, whenever I launched KInfoCenter, it used to show 2 unknown processors. Now with beta 2 things have improved, I see two processors the way I should, but I still see two "Unknown" processor entries. To make things clear, I've attached a screenshot. I have a dual core Pentium D, with Chakra x86_64. Any idea people? ![]()

the reason you're seeing double is because you're running both HALand Devicekit (HAL's replacement), you're also probably seeing doubles in device manager plasmoid when attaching a usb device.
no idea why processor showing as unknown |

Ok, I might TOTALLY be wrong, but am I not supposed to see double as I have dual core? The System monitor also shows 2 processors with different loads.

you should see 2 processors "processor number 0" and "processor number 1" as you have a dual core
since you have 2 cores they will be processing different tasks at the same time and will have different loads depending on what each is doing at the time the load is displayed this is how kinfocenter should appear ![]() |

I understand that, and if you look above you will see that I do have those two listed as they should be listed. The problem is why am I seeing 2 unknown processor entries?

As google01103 said, you probably need to either disable or uninstall HAL. You have both HAL and udev telling KDE the same thing, so KDE shows it twice.

no idea why processor showing as unknown, but think it's HAL related, if you remove HAL do those "unknown processors" disappear? If it's a HAL problem then it's not a KDE problem, Kinfocenter is just passing along what HAL tells it
