Konsole no longer has a right mouse button menu?

I had this problem under KDE 4.5.4 and earlier so I tried updating to KDE 4.6 RC 1 to see if it helped, but it did not.

I no longer get a menu when I press the right mouse button in a Konsole window. The RMB event itself works fine as all other applications work as intended.

I've search for a option somewhere in Konsole to enable it again but I can't find it.

How do I fix this?

I would login as a new user and see if this still occurs, or move/rename the konsole related files and directory
~/[.kde|.kd4]/share/apps/konsole
~/[.kde|.kd4]/share/config/konsole*

I had this problem in the betas but it seems fixed in RC 1

Removing the konsole configuration fixed the problem - I looked through the content but I could not spot why the current settings broke the popup menu...

same here but logging in as a new user or moving/renaming the config files is always a good test when an issue arises, especially after an update

I had the problem too and solved it by editing the file

~/.kde/share/config/konsolerc

and changing ToolBarsMovable=Disabled to

ToolBarsMovable=Enabled

I've got the impression that the right-click menu preferably vanishes (rarely) after calls of the command "less" (and perhaps after marking action within the output of less). This happens since Version 2.5.4 (KDE 4.5.5, Fedora 14).

Has anyone already opened a bug report?

I'm using 4.6 and I haven't had any issues since the removal of the konsole profile file...

I detected that it happens in the remaining screen tabs after having closed one screen tab.

I tried that and couldn't reproduce unfortuantely.
Code: Select all
ben@bianca:~> konsole --version
Qt: 4.7.3
KDE Development Platform: 4.6.41 (4.7 >= 20110106)
Konsole: 2.6.999

I have the same problem. Happens on a Konsole with many tabs after a while. Haven't tracked down when exactly it occurs.

Code: Select all
~> konsole --version
Qt: 4.7.0
KDE Development Platform: 4.5.3 (KDE 4.5.3)
Konsole: 2.5.3

Whenever I use the RMB menu to close a tab, or 'Configure Current Profile', the RMB won't open again afterwards. I have to restart konsole to regain the ability to open the RMB menu.

Can you reproduce that under a new user? Are you running any particular programs inside the Konsole terminal when the menus fails to appear?

Just tried if the fish shell is the reason (the only thing I was running in konsole when the menu failed to appear), but konsole behaves the same with bash.

So far I didn't test with a new user, but I tried deleting my ~/.kde/share/config/konsolerc file (which is mentioned as a possible workaround in this thread) and that didn't help.

EDIT: also, when I mentioned that 'Configure current Profile' leads to the same Problem I was probably wrong. I tested again and this time it was no problem.

In this case, it may have been included as a bug fix to Konsole, which is probably present in the KDE 4.6.2 release at the latest...
