In KDE3 there is an option "Smart text search from" in the kate that I like to set to "Selection then current word".
Where is that option in KDE4 gone to? Without finding it I can not upgrade to 4 version. |

I am not sure exactly what you mean, could you explain exactly what you want do?

Well, this setting creates the following behavior
1. If I select some text and open the find or replace dialog, the selected text if placed in the 'text to find' field. 2. If nothing is selected the word the cursor is placed before or in is copied there. This allows not to spoil the content of the clipboard and avoid typing when finding/replacing. |

1. Is the same here (KDE 4.5.95).
2. Is the same for find, not for replace dialog. I am not aware off any settings for this. You know that klipper stores the content of the last x clipboard entries? |

I suspect they have gone. You can play with them in KDE3. This option kept kate to be the best editor in the world. And the lack of it prevents me to upgrade to the KDE4.
1. Why were they lost when moving from 3-rd to 4-th KDE? 2. How long will it take to revive this option in KDE4? 3. Is it possible to use the old kate (say, 2.3.10) in KDE4? |

Sorry, I do not understand this. And I forget to mention that clipboard history retrieval tremendously increases the number of operation to preform that is not good. |
