Recently, I have upgraded from KDE v4.5 to v4.6.
I wanted to start "clean KDE" this time, so I mv'd ~/.kde4 folder into backup. Then, after upgrade, I've copied some folders from {backup}/share/apps/ into ~/.kde4/share/apps, to restore settings/content for few applications, which otherwise I would tire to restore manually (e.g. KTorrent). My Kopete settings (especially "accounts"), restored in the way, described above, were not recognized by new version of kopete (not fully).. It there a migration tool/instructions how to properly restore data/settings for Kopete, after v4.5->v4.6 upgrade of KDE?

As long as you copied those files over with Kopete closed, it should have migrated them on startup.
Otherwise, you may have missed some files, which ones did you copy?

All files, I believe:
Now, when I start Kopete, it has contacts (though, ICQ ones are not titled), but no profiles. http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/H1rsTpT5x07bT_R-M37ThdD5VDQGWEJNaJoepdEoU78?feat=directlink http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/uGpXZeNuYLFtvTxjdjLfNdD5VDQGWEJNaJoepdEoU78?feat=directlink

Kopete also stores some configuration in ~/.kde4/share/config I believe, in the file "kopeterc"

Thank you, that worked! Note: had to restore KWallet settings/data as well, using similar approach.
