How can I send fax with KDE? Is there an application to send/receive fax? Or an add-on to dolphin?

there are some fax server packages in my distro - hylafax, efax & sendfax but it might be easier (though not free except for minimal usage) to use a web based service (just Google).

Kdebase3 provides kdeprintfax (which is a kde3 app) but needs a fax server (hylafax, efax, sendfax)

If you have an HP fax/printer the hplip package should work.

You could also try using a Windows app under Wine but no idea if that will work

Recently we migrate from 3.5.10 (Debian Lenny) to 4.4.5 (Debian Squeeze) and we lost kdeprintfax.

We use a remote hylafax server (on other machine in the same network).

Sorry, but isn't an option. What about integration in kprint menu? What about integration in Openoffice?

Can anyone explain me how to integrate the fax system in kde again? Or tell me a valid option for a simply way to send fax for users.

(I can't understand how the fax system is lost in Kde 4.x. The fax is widely used in office)

Unfortunately this is KDE 3 functionality which did not carry over to KDE 4. I suggest using the Print to File options with a seperate client which can interface with your Hylafax server at this time.

This implies too many actions for users:

1· Start fax app.
2· Print to file.
3· Select file.
4· Send fax.
5· Delete file.

Until now, only two actions needed:

1· "Print to fax"
2· Send fax

Anyone is working to come back to Kde support for fax?
