When searching applications using the Application Launcher Widget from the Panel, I got duplicated entries.
For example: if I type PDF I got PDF Viewer Acrobat PDF Viewer Acrobat PDF Editor pdfedit PDF Editor pdfedit PDF Viewer KPDF/kde3 PDF Viewer KPDF/kde3 I wonder how I could fix this ? I found nowhere a resource file or database that would let me edit the entries or apply a script to correct the display that is showing that something is wrong... |

Are you really using KDE 4.1.3?
If so, please try first to update to something newer, like KDE 4.5 or 4.6.

This was a known bug in very early versions of KDE 4. It was fixed a long time ago.

How this happened ? Because it hasn't happened since the beginning, this version of SuSE has worked two years at least before showing such troubles ^^
I'll try an upgrade (I hope it won't mess my system up, I really dislike changing graphical environment last time I **** up my distrib' with mismatches between libraries kde3, kde4, etc...) Do you think it is better to go to kde.org site or use repositories ? Advices welcome ^^ |

if you go to kde.org site you'll be compiling from source, why wouldn't you use your distribution's repositories? openSuse has a separate repos for both 4.5 and 4.6 see http://en.opensuse.org/KDE_repositories ... _SC_4.6.29

Backup ~/.kde or ~/.kde4 (naming depends on distro) before upgrading. 4.1.3 is a very old version and thus some config files might cause trouble after upgrading. I would guess that a part of your desktop settings will be reset to default, but I can't really remember.
