Hi,

How can I associate .m files with the MATLAB syntax highlighting in Kate?
Or more genrally, how can I force a specific syntax highlighting for a given extension?

edit: Partially solved with http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/ ... and-kwrite
Path I had to use was "/usr/share/kde4/apps/katepart/syntax".

But I would still like to know if there is an easy way to link extensions to a specific syntax without having to replace/edit syntax files. (and this new matlab.xml should be put into the official kate release... :/ )

You can set the associations in Configure Kate -> Editor Component -> Open/Save -> Modes & Filetypes. Find the file type you want associated (Scientific/Matlab) and change the File extensions.

From this page, you can also download new or update exiting highlighting files if the particular syntax file is missing or out-of-date.
