I'm not seeing it either.

I believe search was taken away as it didn't work under most circumstances (it depended upon htdig among other things to work, khelpcenter is very old)

If it's very old, what's the alternative for it? I wondering, what's the benefit of khelpcenter without search option?! It's vital to support search option just like any respect help software (Microsoft help) |

Unfortunately there is no alternative available as such. Some documentation has been written on KDE Userbase however prior to being transferred to DocBook format, which is what is then distributed. It is due to the DocBook format of most documentation that there are difficulties in searching it.

Well, this is very poor. I think that KHelpCenter without searching is worth nothing. It seems that nobody use KDE help either

Yeah, KDE's Help Center could definitely do with some love.
If you need to search KDE documentation, search is available on docs.kde.org.

Yes, but it is really so complicated to have a searching in KDE help? It was possible to search in the help in Windows 95, maybe 3.1. KDE has so much unimportant features and not this one quite important (for some people without internet).

Unfortunately when the feature was originally implemented, it was based upon Perl scripts and the 'htdig' tool. Over time, this bitrotted and regressed to the point where it no longer really functioned.
If someone was interested in it, they would be more than welcome to work on the help center I imagine.

I guess it might be possible to use Gnome help center code or something and adjust it for KDE. I would like to help with that, if I knew how to do that

Yes I think it is one of the most necessary things in documentation. Maybe another addition to KHelpCenter would be make by other developers?

That is quite possible, however someone would have to step up and write said search system (in the process they would likely become the KHelpCenter maintainer as well I suspect...)

I think going back to Qt tools is better than KDE old protocol take a look to Qt help, it's awesome technology and uses Lucene search engine:
https://qt-project.org/doc/qt-5.0/qthel ... index.html I'm using it for writing help content of my applications. |

Such moves would have to be discussed with the documentation team.
If you need search however, you may want to check docs.kde.org, which does offer search capability.
