I don't know how to remove a post. Sorry.

I use http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/4.0.4/ (though for a diff distro), .debs are there for Maverick

maybe those are old links, no longer used?

If they are as you say, what do I do to remove them so they do not hamper updates? Whenever I see if there are updates, for example, there are several uninstalled updates shown in the package manager right now, I click on apply the updates and the window that contains the errors I posted appears. I am then unable to install the available updates.

What do I remove to get the error message to keep from interfering with updates? Thanks! I hope this is understandable; I sometimes have difficulty making myself clear.

I don't do *buntu's so I'm guessing that you added a virtualbox repo (ppa) and it's no longer current and it appears from your post all your errors are virtualbox related

how about you remove the ppa using the sudo ppa-purge command http://www.webupd8.org/2010/08/ppa-purg ... -1010.html, might there be a ppa manager in the update manager to do this?

note: as this is a *buntu specific problem regarding non-KDE sw you might be better off posting in their forums

I don't do Ubuntu either but I am surprised that it is not in the repos. I suppose you've tried

apt-cache search virtualbox

to see what is there. Oh, and talking about repos, have you enabled all those available under synaptic?

If your answer to the above is "been there, done that, tell me something new" google is your friend as in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/VirtualBox
