In Kubuntu (lucid, maverick and natty), I tried have two users with different languages.
Example:
My first user has language in spanish and the "system language" is in spanish.
The second user has the language in english, but non-kde programs is in spanish (like the "system language"). For example openoffice, firefox, gimp, etc. is in spanish.

Is there some trick to change all programs to english for the second user?

Is a problem only in kubuntu? or Is a issue knows between kde-configuration and non-kde apps?

I think in kde 3.5 was possible,

Thanks,

This is likely due to the value of the $LANG variable, which KDE 4 does not set. You will need to determine the correct values for this (my system uses en_US.UTF-8), then set them in a (executable) script placed in ~/.kde4/env/

The solution was:
add into /home/user/.profile :

Code: Select all
export LANGUAGE=en_US
export LC_MESSAGES=en_US.UTF-8

gnome-language-selector adds the lines when you change the language. I don't know if the program is from gnome or ubuntu.

Well, I suppose this "features" or "bug" is a problem from kubuntu and not kde, right?

Thanks for the reply, It was big help.
