Kile cant edit files

Fri Jun 17, 2011 8:43 pm
Folks, sometimes when opening a text file on kile I cant edit it. Input is simply not recorded thou if I use some other program as vim or texmaker I can edit the file with no problem. I'm kind out of ideas about what can be happening. Ive checked files and folders permissions all is fine. It seems related to happen after a file is opened one time with a wrong encoding, does anyone had any experience with this?

File editing is handling by the Kate kpart - so the answer probably lies in your Kate settings - perhaps a conflict in the way you expect to edit in Kile and elsewhere. This is just guesswork as I've never had the problem with Kate itself.

The text editor component, the Kate part, makes the document read-only in such cases; see Tools -> Read only mode.

But does this config spans for multiple sessions of the application ie if I close it shouldnt this setting be reset? I will check my kile setting as soon as I make home. Still thanks a lot for the insight folks.
