hello I am running Debian Sid with KDE 4.6.5. I would like to make Konqueror show the sidebar by default when it launches, for some reason I am having trouble getting that to happen.

Thanks,
Mike

Enable the Sidebar, then save your profile (using Save Profile in the menu) then it will stick.

Thanks I tried that and still no luck. Konqueror opens with a file management view like I specified with detailed view etc, but the sidebar till have to be toggled manually to show. Any ideas? I am using KDE 4.6.5 on Debian Sid.

Try the following. Start Konqueror, and enable the Sidebar. You now need to save the profile at least twice. Once for the "File Browsing" profile, and once for the "Web Browsing" profile.

The File Browsing profile is used when you open it, specifying a certain folder. The Web Browsing profile is used when you do not specify a certain folder (starting it by running "konqueror &" for instance)

Open Settings > Save View Profile As. Accept the view profile currently selected, noting it's name and save it. Then go back into that same dialog and overwrite the other one (you previously would have saved File Browsing or Web Browsing)
