gentoo kexi postgresql plugin

Mon Apr 02, 2012 8:44 pm
I am running Gentoo linux and installed kexi with the USE=postgres option upon emerge. E.G.
> USE="postgres" emerge -av kexi

Everything compiles fine with postgres support and the program runs. The problem is that when I create a new database and try to select a postgresql server in the database engine pulldown, there is no selection for postgress available. Simply put, I don't have the postgres plugin so I can connect kexi to my postgresql server and it should be there. I am running kexi 2.3 and I want to know how to make this work with postgresql server.

I re emerged kexi using the mysql use flag and I do have a mysql plugin for kexi. Why will the same procedure not work for postgresql?

Hi ellinuxloco, it's not clear what's wrong here. The PostgreSQL driver needs libpqxx and libpq libraries. Check is gentoo builds the plugin - e.g. by looking for $PREFIX/lib/kde4/kexidb_pqxxsqldriver.so plugin file.

More information on what files belong to plugins can be found in README.PACKAGERS file in the root directory of the source code.
