Hi All
I'm experimenting with Kexi after (trying) to use Base for the past 5 years!! I have several questions but would URGENTLY like to know the following to see if I should carry on with this project. I have a 'Members Database' and need multi-line fields, (for Notes and Misc information), and I want to add two photos of the Member to each record. Can Kexi do this?? Thanks a lot Ian W. |

Hello Ian,
Kexi forms offer multi-line widget, called Text Editor. It's available in the Widgets toolbox. Note: By default Kexi limits text type to 200 characters but, I am assuming you may want to change Subtype property of a field to Long Text, which practically has no limits. As for the photos, Kexi can have as many fields able to store photos as you want. Each such field should have type set to Object. Attached (compressed) Kexi 2.x sample database having two photos per record. |

Thanks Jaroslaw
I'm happy to get stuck in and fully learn about Kexi now. (Pity if you had said "Yes" to me a week ago I could have been well on the way by now!!) But I do greatly appreciate the help!! What you sent be seems great I have fixed my Multi-line boxes but seem unable to set the background colour of these to match the rest of my layout. I select the colour in the Background colour Pallet box and it shows there but does NOT appear on the screen?? A cosmetic - doesn't stop me working. I do have two BIG questions now - but as you suggest I will post them up to the Forum as two separate posts.... Thanks again Ian |

OK - We seem to be winning....slowly!!
Regarding the photos - I have one set of graphics that apply to ALL records - so I made a table and included them all. Now in my form I can only find ONE place to set the Data Source for the form but I now have information coming from TWO Sources. How do I set the second Source as being the Photo Table? All the Text fields use the "Source 1 Table" for their information, and... The Graphic Box uses the "Source 2 Table" for the right picture. |

You can submit relevant screenshots or (better) your test database. At least to me it's hard to judge what's missing in your design...

I came across a reply of yours to another user asking about Relationships between Tables and you replied that this was not possible until the next version (2.4).
In the meantime I've worked my way round this BUT the photos do not save in the record!! I use the drop-down box and choose "select from file" and it shows the photo fine on-screen. But as soon as I click on "Save Row" (or move on to another record) it vanishes and is NOT saved in the table. Any ideas?? |

Ian, please send me the db (compressed) if you can. You can remove all or most of the data and not relevant tables.
Or you can compared to the working database I attached in this topic. Or please let me know if your use case is different. |
