Hi All
Can anyone help please? I've just started using Kexi (2.3.3) on my PCLinuxOS (2012-2) system. However I am having LOTS of "crashes". Not with working on the tables but whenever I go into Queries, Forms and Reports. The error I get is "Kexi PID: {No. varies each time} Signal: Segmentation fault (11)". If I try and post a Bug Report I get the message "Report does not contain enough information. I have tried re-loading the program but with no better results. Do I need to install another part (like Jave with Base??) or what?? I get NO crashes if I just work with the table I have created. Thanks for any help. Ian W |

After looking into this a bit more it seems to be the known 'Bug 283092'
There is much mention of it on Google!! Does anyone know if it has been fixed yet or if there is a work-round?? Thanks |

Ian, when reporting errors, please explain step by step what are you doing. Without that, we cannot say it's the same bug as 283092. Signal 11 is description of thousand or thousands of errors in any software And the reason why bug 283092 has been resolved as WAITING is exactly that: we have not enough of information. Also if this seems to be dependent on specific data(base) please consider attaching it here (or sending privately). If it turns out to be a new bug: we'll need it reported to bugs.kde.org. |

I've spent some time today with Kexi and the problem seems to be related to the Forms only. And specifically the form I developed for my DB.(Other forms open OK and the one you sent me also)
If I try and open it in any Mode Kexi just "crashes" I'm thinking that as I was working to get the pictures to work it may be something to do with that. I can't find a way to "link" the fields to the right table (see my other post). Maybe I have "linked" to a non-existent field in a table(??). But now I can't even get at my Form to edit it!! Does this mean I will have to delete it and start again? |

Good advice for anyone is: if you want help, never ever remove crashing databases (!)
Copy them and keep for reference; if possible submit them attached to bug reports (bugs.kde.org). Reports with reproducible bugs are most valuable. No matter what the user tries to do - Kexi should not crash, so don't be afraid you're doing something unexpected. |

I was referring to DELETING the FORM not the DB itself!!
I have done this and so far it seems to be working (fingers crossed)!! |

Let me rephrase, Ian: Good advice for anyone is: if you want help, never ever remove crashing objects. Now that the object is removed, the problem is not solved properly and long-term (in other words: someone, including you, can encounter it again). |

OK - Noted Jarosław
I will keep this in mind for the future!! My new Form is working fine so far - except for the photos as mentioned in the other thread. Will look at getting it to you to look at. Thanks a lot |
