Hi All,
I'm having to evaluate software choices for a project that I intend on commercializing. I'm really hoping to stick with FOSS software but I need to be sure that the software is capable of doing what I need it to do. For anyone who knows Kexi and Access (and has Access) can you look at this and let me know if Kexi has the same features. I've made a similar (simpler) database with Access but again trying to stick with FOSS software. Here is a link to the database from access:

Thank you in advance

Hi jmadero, thanks for asking.
Kexi lacks some features you probably use. For example we need to make queries more powerful, add filters.

The good news is that many features are already in the 'engine', under the mask, but are just not exposed in the graphical interface...

Actually Kexi exposes quite a few features for the users of mouse -- before people had to stick with legacy/proprietary solutions or with command line/text interfaces. We want to add so much more...

And thanks for the database. If you don't mind, it would be used for testing existing and new features of Kexi. More samples - always better.

That's actually provided by another user. It's a well known database for people doing survey type work with their databases. I suspect that there will be no problem you using it as a test case as the database is provided free of charge for "educational purposes". You can read the "license" here:

If that kind of functionality can be achieved I will be the first one to leave MS Access (and finally purge my system completely of Windows) for all FOSS :) Really appreciate the effort. If there's any basic programming or testing needs I'd like to volunteer.
