From Knoda to Kexi

Thu Sep 13, 2012 7:54 pm
Since Knoda is no longer supported I am transferring my personal application to Kexi

Tables, data and queries have been transferred.
I devised a succession of about ten actions giving a result I obtain in one click in Knoda, through python scripting. The result is a line in a auxiliary table whose main field is a list of unique ids from the main table, thus storing an «image» of a selection in this main table.
To go further I have to devise a way to combine (union, intersection, exclusion) these images, which without scripting has to be outside of Kexi. The result is returned as a new line in the auxiliary table. At the end, feeding the list of ids to a query from the main table, the result is produced.

This last action is, at the time, impossible (see viewtopic.php?f=221&t=107700 )

To achieve the transfer I have to wait for the solution to the above problem.

I am also interested in a table/query widget in forms (see viewtopic.php?f=221&t=107098 ), and the possibility to launch scripts from widgets in the form, which would allow to integrate the whole application within Kexi.

However I congratulate for the abilities yet included in Kexi, and wish a good contnuation.

Dear Robert, thanks for sharing your case.

Regarding the possibility to launch scripts from widgets in the form, you can assign script to a form button so after clicking it is executed. The handbook explains this. Specifically, in the Assign Action dialog you need to select Script category, then desired script name, and select finally Execute action. I hope this is useful for you.
