Hi,
This may be interesting for those of you dreaming of full Kexi on Windows to be available sooner than later - Kexi project is looking for donation: at least one legal license for Windows 7 Pro 32-bit (English). VMware and Visual Studio software will be used to prepare and maintain Kexi for Windows (XP and newer). Thanks in advance. |

Hi, are you still looking for "at least one legal license for Windows 7 Pro 32-bit (English)."? or any other windows versions as I may be able to help you with this. I have several computers, which had a variety of windows versions when bought but i have since upgraded many of them to later windows versions. So i am more than willing to let you have the license numbers for these versions...
All the best...Paul |

How is this going? By the looks of it, you received a Windows license in 2013. Also, someone was asking whether there is an old version.
If I don't hear from you, I'll make an attempt to compile it myself. |

Hi asbach, jorgk3 and Tralen!
Update. I am actually collecting funds to make sure this version is maintained. The virtual machine barely works (but works thanks to the donated Windows license). A native workstation is a must long term. Guess what - these workstations are not free in stores around Having it just for Windows makes sense or not but people that will work on the Windows version have to see a strong reason for this purchase. This is a reason #1 why the development takes time. Reason #2: Kexi is going through some restructuring for Qt 5: https://community.kde.org/Kexi/Porting_to_Qt%26KF_5 A big question is if we want a Qt 4 port on Windows or waiting for the Qt 5 version. It's not possible to just take the resources out of the Qt 5 port and put them on the 'Windows port' task. Resources have to be _added_ this or another way. The Windows version will eventually rock, enjoying a native installer (like Krita for Windows https://krita.org/download/krita-desktop/) with online updates and will be a fairy compact app, without you noticing it's most known from the KDE Plasma desktop. PS: Support is now possible since a month: for example 4 days left for the #Kexi fundraiser: https://www.bountysource.com/teams/kexi/fundraiser There are also other issues that can be supported https://www.bountysource.com/teams/kexi/issues. Anyone can add own wish, including the "Add Windows version" on Github and publish on Bountysource. |

Hi all,
I successfully compiled Kexi for Windows this weekend. It still has some problems - but in general it's working. Problems I found: * open dialog not working * missing icons in Form Editor If you want to give it a try: http://stefan.roehrach.de/huge_files/kexiWin.7z |

Thanks! The one officially supported on Windows one is going to be version 3 so I hope you'd be interested in building this version. Unfinished universal build recipe: https://community.kde.org/Calligra/Building/3. Feel free to ask questions regarding this build.
Kexi 2.9 will not receive updates of fixes (at least from me). |

Hi Jaroslaw,
I'm glad to hear that Kexi 3 will be back on Windows. I built from git://anongit.kde.org/kexi.git - hope this is the latest and greatest I had to do nearly no changes to the code - only some CMake stuff. The only thing that not builds for me is the scripting plugin - but seems to be a small thing to do also. The open dialog and missing icon stuff seems to be sort of copy files to correct folder only. For the most applications I write in QT I often think - this might be faster if I had something like Kexi but all my friends and colleagues are using Windows and so I often have the pain to write it from scratch. You might say you can use Base or Access but it's not as easy and intuitive like Kexi. Especially I like the cool scripting and the user-mode. I think Kexi is too cool to be on Linux only |

Ah so yes, that's Kexi 3. Many updates are expected as soon as I merge things like https://blogs.kde.org/2016/06/01/kexi-3. It will need testers to mature.
Kexi is raising to be more powerful app creator indeed. Scripting from Kexi 2 is discontinued in favour of not yet implemented QJsEngine-based one. Home page: https://community.kde.org/Kexi/Plugins/Scripts. Good thing is that by the time we need it, Qt 5.7 will be around with cool debugging features we may depend on: https://wiki.qt.io/New_Features_in_Qt_5.7. I am curious if you'd be interested in contributing at some point to some Kexi modules. Anyway, please keep yourself updated and share that with the world |

Hi Jaroslaw,
thanks for the interesting links. I know that QtScript is deprecated in QT and I already tried a bit with QML and JS and think its a worthy replacement for it. Yes, I already thought about contributing It was when I read a post some time ago (I think it was from you) that aimed to port Kexi to WT (for those who don't know: https://www.webtoolkit.eu/wt). This would be the ultimate app creator But fun apart. I would be glad to contribute but I don't know how much time I can offer. But if you need help, feel free to ask. I'll see what I can do. |

Thanks you very much. We will surely have many smaller tasks. I do realize larger ones are harder to finalize.
I would recommend mailing list and IRC for development-related contacts https://community.kde.org/Kexi/Contact. |
