Hi,
Just installed latest version. I purged the old version first to start with a clear slate. We are running on Mint13 LTS version as before. This time on an older laptop.
I have the oxygen theme installed Starting for the first time I was surprised to see the older style icons (without the white cross on green circle). Can I get them somehow? On the previous install on the 64-bit machine, the newer icons came up straight away. best regards Ian |

Hi Ian,
I happened to me at least once. Icon cache is probably kept so practical approach is to remove it. I know you're using compiled Kexi with custom installation path, so I cooked this recipe for any case. Go to the command line (in your case environment variables should like KDEDIRS be set first like you do when running or compiling Kexi). Then:
Subsequent runs of Kexi would re-create icon cache with new contents. On my system "kde4-config --path cache" means /var/tmp/kdecache-jarek/. |

PS: I just extended/updated the Running from Command Line section on our wiki. Setting all the variables that are mentioned there will make you sure temporary files and caches for your compiled Kexi (Calligra and other) apps are completely separated from the "system" ones configured by the usual packaged apps.

Hi,
Thanks for a swift response - on Easter Sunday, too! Deleting the cache fixed the issue. Then I looked to the amended entry in the kde wiki which shows thus
(The first three lines are as they were previously) With the first installation I found that the first three lines did not survive a shutdown, so I put them into my .profile. Now I have six lines in my .profile. My question is why? I don't have similar lines in there for anything else. Right, on with the third machine. Maybe tomorrow. Then we will have a sustainable useable kexi installation without the past frustrations. Regards ian |

I propose not to put the lines to .profile but be less intrusive. Otherwise your entire account is affected. I propose to create a new file like kexi-env.
Then when you need, you can go to console and type:
(you can replace source with .) You can also create a script of course that invokes the compiled Kexi version:
Then you can use the script in your shortcut if you want more convenience. |
