Hi,
For many versions now there has been no functionality of the Cut, Copy, & Paste icons. I normally use the Ctl-X/C/V keyboard shortcuts (or highlight the text and copy-paste with the middle button), but those on my staff with less computer experience seek the comfort of familiar icons. Using at present commit 1c53aa8b9e0968178424786177453f887d328ceb (2.9 Pre Alpha), but this 'gliitch' has been with me since 2.6, maybe earlier. Previously, running a quite early version under ubuntu, the icons were functional. But later versions, under Mint, have never had them functional. Is this maybe because I am only running kexi, not the full Calligra suite, and certainly not under the KDE desktop environment. regards Ian |

Ian, I'll first explain the concept and then look at the UI issue. The answer is: this is not related. The full Calligra suite, as users see it, is a sum of apps. Also if you look at packages, the full Calligra suite tends to be delivered by a group of packages providing all the apps, respectively, in which group some optional features may provided in separate packages to give users more control. The same applies to some features that are shared between apps, contained in so called shared libraries. If Kexi is built from the source code (as it's in your and my case), the KEXI product set delivers everything what's available for Kexi. The goal is maximal convenience. Features for whose required build- or run-dependencies are not met (on given operating system) are skipped until they get installed and the until build gets reconfigured using cmake. |

Hi, Jaroslaw,
In other words, if I used the 'Desktop' product set and installed everything, then kexi would find the missing bits and the icons would work? I might just do that! I guess I am perhaps a member of a small group - people using kexi standalone without the support of the full Calligra suite, so I understand how this can arise As always, many thanks. Ian |
