Kexi default keybindings?

Fri Aug 22, 2014 8:23 am
Hi,

I cannot find a list of any default keybindings for kexi. Is there one?

In a much earlier version I was able to set them (for instance to move by one record at a time through a Form) but in later versions (running 2.9 pre-alpha) this capability has been lost.

Mouse-clicking can be time-consuming when obliged to range widely over the screen clicking on small discrete areas such as the navigation arrows.

Hi,
A number of tasks are open for volunteers:
http://quickgit.kde.org/?p=calligra.git ... status.txt

There is a note about missing transfer:
Code: Select all
Chapter 7: Command Reference
aa_00_00_menu.html                NOT READY FOR CONVERSION YET (MERGE DOCS WITH docbook version)
ab_00_00_shortcuts.html           NOT READY FOR CONVERSION YET (MERGE DOCS WITH docbook version)

The most complete comes from old Kexi for WIndows. Not a surprise since it was version with paid support. I just uplaoded to html for you and google translation is here: https://translate.google.com/translate? ... tcuts.html

For table view, try Ctrl+Home, Ctrl+End, Home, End, Page Up/Page Down, Ctrl+Page Down, Ctr+Page Up, Ctrl + "+" , Ctrl + "=" ...

Issues with these pages: that version of Kexi was menu based and is quite old, some features might have been modified or removed (like alignment or layouts in forms).

PPS:
- A nice idea would be to add ability of quickly showing (current and default) key bindings like in GMail (though not using '?' key of course).
- Similarly, documentation page would be generated so it's more easily kept up-to-date.
- Kexi 2.x lost some bindings, e.g. Ctrl+F for technical reasons, we're restoring them one by one (especially thanks to Wojciech ;).

Hi, Jaroslaw.

I note that in Mutt a complete list of bindings come up with Shift-? - a handy one-hand key combination (with an 'x' to exit out of it) ;) .
Kexi could have some of the related shortcut keys showing as a popup hint when hovering over an icon. With no 'Preferences' this is not currently an option but it could be hardwired in?

Are those key bindings on the translated html form chosen for compatability with M$ ? I suppose so. Is it intended that key bindings can be set by the user to their personal preference?

I wanted to print that list out, but printing html is often a challenge and I could only print out the first page. Printing to pdf showed a blank page. Do you have a ready-printable format to send please - .odt or .pdf ?

A number of tasks are open for volunteers:
http://quickgit.kde.org/?p=calligra.git%20...%20status.txt

and that might include Chapter 7 :)

I'm working on it, reading all those links.

Update: I have the Preferences dialog, it's just not read as I noticed not all changes are kept after application restart. Investigating why is that.
