How to get true black in reports

Thu May 14, 2015 8:41 pm
In Report Mode, I want to print out text in reverse colors; black background and white text. I am not able to print true black backgrounds. The backgrounds (text backgrounds) always print out as grays no matter what setting I use. They do look black on screen but do not print out as black. Text foregrounds do print out as true black but not the backgrounds. Is it only me or does anyone else have this problem? Any solutions?
Thanks,
wmae

Hi wmae,
You're right. As a workaround please pick the Custom value (the 1st line) and pick the black. May I ask for filing a bug at bugs.kde.org?

Te same applies to forms. Any color picker works this way, for foreground too.

The "Custom value (the 1st line)" also does not give a true black; just the same gray. I have tried other combinations without success.

Have you tried to enter 0, 0, 0 values or #000000 in the HTML field?

Yes, I've tried that. No luck. No black.
At least now I know what not to do.

What exactly is happening in reports for you?

I just tried it ... created a report with a black background on a field, html code #000000 (using the custom color picker) , printed it to pdf, opened the pdf, took a screenshot, opened it in gimp, the the color was #000000.

Did you set the background opacity to 100? it defaults to 0, which is 'see through'

Tried all that. Still no true black. Only gray.

Hi,
Please see the file https://paste.kde.org/p9jqtoksx/h9nv1i/raw, save it to a FILENAME and type:

base64 -di FILENAME > colortest.kexi

Then please see the report in that project file.

The report looks similar except that there isn't any "Value" under "Data Source." Also, in the "Design" window, the black rectangle reads ":textarea" instead of "Black Text!:textarea." Everything else looks the same. Clicking on the "Data" button results in a blank white sheet with no black rectangle.

wmae, I should look at your info that you use Kexi 2.8.1, not 2.9.1. It's so old.

We publish changelogs, and for 2.8.6 there's:

"Fix background opacity handling and new background/foreground’s defaults for report elements"

https://www.calligra.org/news/announcem ... -released/

Please upgrade to the newest possible version.
