Hello. I'm new to using Kexi and am currently finding my way round the software (v2.9.6) while building a database. I'm really enjoying using it so far but have stumbled across an issue I can't solve and wondered if any one can offer a pointer?
My database has multiple tables and four forms. On one of the forms I would like to display data from at least three of the tables I have created so multiple widgets have fields from different data sources, unfortunately I can only seem to select one data source per form. I've looked in the manual and run a few Internet searches but cannot find a solution. Is there a way to do this in Kexi? Thanks for any help any one can provide. Best wishes, Gareth. |

Hi Gareth
Thanks for using Kexi. Subforms or split forms or would fit well, unfortunately they are not available. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=330220 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=337440 If you join tables using query, all fields can be displayed. But on the other hand, the form's data becomes non-editable. There's no usable solution for now except a frustrating one: copy/remember an an ID of a record you want to edit in given table, got to the table or its form (data view), search for the ID and edit the record. (Note that other views based on the table should be reloaded, what actually can be performed by closing and opening the view again). |

Thanks very much for your reply.
That's a shame. I'll use your workaround for the time being, that should solve my problem. Out of interest is such a feature planned for a future edition of Kexi? Best wishes, Gareth. |

Thanks for understanding.
Yes, it's planned as a must-have feature, no milestone is set though. Requesting features important for users: https://community.kde.org/Kexi/Contact# ... t_or_a_fix |
