Hi All
Back trying to use Kexi for my Club Membership Database. I set-up my Table and User Form and all seemed fine. However I'm unable to get Combo Boxes to work. Is there a comprehensive Tutorial for this - I can't find one!!?? Secondly I have some photos in my Form - set as 'Objects' in the Table. I can Right-Click on the Form and select the photo I want and it shows up but as soon as you Click 'Save Record' the photo disappears and is NOT saved. What am I missing?? Last of all while testing out the DB yesterday the whole program froze and I had to re-start the computer. The Hard Drive light was just flashing continuously and no other input worked. After the re-start I selected Kexi again and it took for ever to start up. On checking I found my Table that had 2501 rows now contains 2118243 rows and if I try to do anything the program AND KDE crashes with the error "Kexi PID 5950, Seg Fault 11". I have tried everything to no avail. I have even deleted the Table and rebuit it and it comes back with 21189243 rows. I removed Kexi completely via Synaptic and re-installed it. Still the same. So how do I remove all this and start again with a 'clean sheet'?? My OpSys is PClinuxOS-64bit up-to-date. Thanks for any help. |

Hi
The topic of combo boxes appears from time to time here, I hope it's possible to master. See viewtopic.php?f=221&t=132140 where you find example database too. There are no volunteers to write free books (or finish the existing one) and collecting money to pay someone to write one isn't going fast enough. I think we discussed already it's not the OS that crashes but the app. What's your Kexi version these days? Asking because the issue has long ago been fixed. Sometime I think remote connection to the PC would help to show you how to use some features. Cheers. |

Hi Jaroslaw
My Kexi is the latest in the PCLOS Repo - 2.9.11. When the program goes "mad" and locks up the whole computer you only have the option to re-start!! It was not the OpSys that crashed it was Kexi and the KDE front-end. I use TeamView her in SA for remote support and would be happy to do this with you if you think you can help me and if you have that program. I've looked at the Combo Box post you mention and can not understand it. Also the link to the Webpage with a sample DB has no way to download the sample so that I can study it!! Take my 'Members' Table ...... Col 1 - is the numeric Primary Key Col 2 - is the 'Status' - which I want as a Combo Box to select 'ACTIVE','"NOT MEMBER', 'DECEASED' etc etc I select the Combo Box option for the table on the 'Status' row and am presented with three boxes -( can't look now because Kexi not working). One is 'Bound Box' and another is 'Visible box'. Can you explain exactly how I select these please to get the Combo Box to work as I want it? You made no comment on the Photos that are not being saved!!?? Thanks for the help - appreciated!! |

You also did not comment on how to get Kexi working again!!
It must keep a History file somewhere that Synaptic is not removing with the "Remove completely" option. |

I wouldn't comment on how to use specific operating systems. Maybe as soon as we have own Kexi packages for all OSes, we will be able to be more responsible for these binaries. Just like the very popular sister project Krita does. Looking forward to that time.
