Up-date on Evaluation of Kexi

Thu Dec 15, 2016 11:28 am
Hi Jaraslaw - and others.

I promised to come back to you as soon as I could, but a death in my family delayed my tests!!

I now have Kexi 2.9.11 running perfectly on PClinuxOS-64bit!! It is VERY STABLE and a solid product in day-to-day use and I'm VERY happy with it. Great job I must say. Yes I had a few minor problems but have completely been able to Port all my data from LO Base.

I had one "crash" and I re-started the Program and everything was up and running again. A big difference from LO Base that tends to take all the data with it when it crashes!!!

I do have a few questions/comments.
* The Save Record Button seems strange - it does not seem to matter if you click it or not - the record or changes you have made just seem to get saved - as I think it should be!!
* I still need to change one mis-setup field from Text to Image and still can not find out how to do this.
* I also need to get Como Boxes working (I could not get the link you sent me about this to work!!)
* Is it possible to set-up Tabs in a Form so that you can navigate from field-to-field in a specific order?

The one problem I have is with the 'Find' box - I find it very "clunky" and slow in use. I would like to make a couple of suggestions about this. Can I do that here on the Forum??

Last of all - My Distro only has 2.9.11 in the Repo and when 3.0.0 came out I requested that the Repo be up-dated but nothing seems to be happening and I'm VERY keen to try the new version!! Is there any rpm files available that I can try or is there a way I can learn to compile from source for myself?? Please keep in mind I have never done this before so would need the "Dummy's Guide" for this!!!

Many thanks - and again a great program - I appreciate!! It has taken a BIG problem in my life away!!! I now have a STABLE DB that I can rely on!!!
