How do you install Kexi onto Ubuntu? I have been trying for over 3 hours. I have followed every single link to every single set of instructions and none work. Why can't i find a simple .deb for the install? No, it can't be simple can it? This is linux and software must be almost impossible to install so as not to actually encourage uses to switch.

This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source However the following packages replace it: calligra-data calligra-libs:i386 calligra-libs E: Package 'kexi' has no installation candidate So, apparently kexi can no longer be installed, at all, period. Why, why does it have to be some damn difficult to install software in linux? |

Hi dferguson,
I am sorry Ubuntu packages do not install the 3.0.0 for you. Our project has no influence on distributors how and when they release the binaries. At least not bigger influence than users so it may be a good idea to send request to the distributor, their forums, and so on. If there's Ubuntu user that can help here in this thread, please do so and welcome. Nevertheless, to find a way out we have tried an AppImage approach: viewtopic.php?f=220&t=140084. Would you be interested in trying this version? We want to continue this offer. |

i am not able to get the appimage to work. This is one of the most frustrating things about linux. Finding a distro that has decided to include the programs you want to use. What the heck appened to Snap and Flatpak. Weren't they supposed to resolve these types of problems. Let me guess, too much infighting in the linux community for either one to be adopted. So, in short I can no longer use Kexi because my distro maintainer has decided for me that I don't need it. No wonder Linux never made any headway into the desktop.

I am sorry the distro ecosystem causes problems here. This is however only related to our project and not its part or something even slightly controlled by us. The AppImage quite recently was our experimental way of distributing of Kexi. Would you mind to share more info why it does not work for you? Alternative options for will be offered to the users eventually, one of them being Windows versions. > my distro maintainer has decided for me that I don't need it Could you quote exact answer of responses like that? Thanks. |
