Hello,
I would like to use version 3.0.0 or above of Kexi, however in the Ubuntu repository the only available version is the 2.9.7. Is there any Linux distro that you specially recommend to use Kexi? It would be great if Kexi was already part of the system. Thank you, Zubi |

Currently fresh versions appear for:
- KDE Neon https://neon.kde.org/download - Windows - (probably) Arch Apart from source code, Windows version is the only we can put our signatures on. I am sorry to say it again, Ubuntu's concept of stability (LTD) though rejecting of upgrades of apps, favors software that's many years with us, not evolving rapidly. Apps like KEXI, evolving rapidly, are more stable in newer releases, not older. LTS' point of view is (effectively) opposite, favoring no longer maintained versions. For example 2.9.11 is 2 years old. Solution for that would be Appimage/Flatpak type of distribution -- if there's workforce to do the distribution tasks, that (please don't say it loud ) were originally distributions' work. Let's encourage users of various distributions of KEXI to monitor the status and share the thoughts (https://community.kde.org/Kexi/Contact) regarding quality of distributed versions. Our project is a team work, developers alone can't monitor the status of third party distributions they do not actually use. I am personally use openSUSE Leap to only compile and develop KEXI. This distro does not necessarily release fresh stable KEXI on time. There's no even 3.1 https://software.opensuse.org/package/k ... _term=kexi (apart from some experimental unreleased KDE:Unstable:Extra). |

Jaroslaw,
... do you mean "I only use openSUSE ..." ? - as it is i am left wondering if you develop on openSUSE and use another distro for running your copy of kexi for office work Checkout this link I found the other day https://www.slant.co/topics/6251/~linux-distributions-for-kde-plasma-5 I am contemplating changing from Mint because of the hassles involved in upgrading - kexi in particular. @Inksi since I have fresh KEXI (multiple versions even) on openSUSE I do not need to find another distro for it. And it would be comical if authors of apps had to change their operating systems or even hardware to run the apps.... All but a freedom
The link you provided suggest Plasma is needed for KEXI, this is not true. A lot of effort is put into making KEXI and similar apps to run smoothly and integrate everywhere. |
