I just installed kexi under Ubuntu 18.04LTS. However, the font used for various GUI elements such as tabs and property sheets is tiny and difficult to read. How can I increase the font size for these elements?

Hi Allan. Is it KEXI 3.1? To see that click KEXI menu and look at the bottom-left.

A screenshot could be useful too. Also I am insterested what is resolution and/or DPI of your screen. This way we can discover better algorithm of the scale.

To change that font size edit the ~/.config/kexirc file, by adding:

[PropertyEditor]
FontPointSize=12

(if the [PropertyEditor] group exists do not add another, just append the FontPointSize=.... line within it)

(feel free to experiment with other values, they are point sizes)

OK, I finally got around to trying your suggestion. The properties spreadsheet font is indeed now controllable.

However, there are other elements in the GUI that I need to change. For example, the when I click on a table in the left column of the project workspace, the centre region shows the contents of the selected table (i.e. "Data" mode). However, the tabs at the top of the table contents that say "Table", "Data", "Design", "Save Record", "Cancel Recent Changes", "Ascending", "Descending" & "Find" are so small, I needed to read them with a magnifying glass!

The most recent Handbook downloaded from docs.kde.org don't look exactly like what I am seeing but I think the region I am describing is called the "Opened Database Objects Area" or something like that.

Can you provide a list of the various other elements in the GUI that I can control?

I consider the issue with fonts as a bug to fix so yes, please consider using bugs.kde.org: https://community.kde.org/Kexi/File_a_bug_or_wish

Only property editor fonts size can be controlled, by the way. I'll put more care into the topic for 3.2.1.

Good, ptijoz! I do not know if your case is exact the same as allanmacdonald's. Feel free to share some info about the OS and some screen shots (can be attached to https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404454).
In the case if others would ask again the same question, I'd be interested if you also can share more info about your tablet. Is this some special "touch" setting of Ubuntu for the tablet? I am not accustomed with recent installations of Ubuntu but will probably have to keep a VM image of it for tests of https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404454. It would be possible for users like you to try pre-release binaries of KEXI for such tests.

Also, for the "FontPointSize" setting of kexirc I think by looking at the screen shot posted at https://bugsfiles.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=118141 that value of FontPointSize=15 is a bit out of line and 12 or 13 would be better. Experiments needed here.

the problem is set for the display

It is true that some tabs are a little small (as reported by allanmacdonald's) but I do not find it embarrassing
Moreover being on a tablet 10.1 touch (At first it was a tablet with Windows 10 but I replaced Windows by Lubuntu) it still remains visible (this is my personal opinion)

I am under 64 bit Lubuntu and I am willing to try the binary beta (*.deb) version. (But i am not able to compile with your method)
