about font styles

Fri Jun 14, 2019 7:52 am
Hello, Considering quitting Mac I am stuck with one issue : the possibility offered by Filemaker of typing formated text (italic, etc) within a field and exporting it with the css information. I have considered various alternatives like creating as many fields as possible style changes and concatenate them but these solutions seem to be well above my skills. Then I came upon this : viewtopic.php?t=108490 which gave me some hope that Kexi could be the solution but am not quite sure about it. Is there a way to type formated text in the editor textbox ? Will I be able, with my poor skills, to import tens of thousands of records from FMP with the styles preserved ? Thank you.

Hi Ptristan
I double checked for you. That link to KEXI 2 discussion is still partly right. Use the text box in KEXI 3 and set the Rich Text property to true because it's false by default.

Here's example of two boxes: one plain text (albeit text editor) and one rich text:

The only challenge you'd face is that for now we have no shortcuts or toolbars implemented for the editor so you'd need to compose and copy the rich text in some other program and paste it then to KEXI. Just reported a wish at https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=408679.

Cheers.

Thank you for this quick and clear answer. Just one last thing : I can live with having to paste the text from elsewhere especially if it is likely to improve in the future. But can I easily export rich text to publishing app or text editor ? Import it from FM ? I have only tested Kexi on a 1:2.9.7 Ubuntu version, by the way, congratulations for that easy, well thought interface, ideal for me.

Yes you can paste and copy back the text, e.g. to Calligra or Libre/MS Office.

I recommend 3.2 of course.
