Hi
I had been using kexi 2 for a number of years and never had trouble importing csv files to the database.
However, a recent upgrade to Kubuntu, 64 bit, and I am now using Kexi 3.1.0. Whenever I try and import csv files I get the following:
"Creating table failed. Error while executing SQL statement. "
I then created a 32 bit linux mint in a virtual box and installed Kexi 2.9. I imported the same csv file and it works seamlessly...
Is this something I can fix or is it a bug? Something must have changed in the 3 versions to make this happen?
(It really is frustrating having to go to a vbox every time I need to import a file and then copy it back to my docs folder.)
Any assistance will be highly appreciated.

Thanks

David

Hi silverwooddavid

Does it happen to you with even simple CSV file? If not could you please report a bug to bugs.kde.org and attach a failing sample there? Or upload a file somewhere and link here in the forum. Thanks.

PS: There is already KEXI 3.2 since April.

This is very interesting. I created a small .csv file with 5 tables and a new db and it imported the file.
I then recreated my database as it seems Kexi 3 does not read Kexi 2 files for some reason, exported my old data (using kexi 2) and reimported it to the new db. That worked. (I have no idea what I did previously to get the Kexi 2 file to read in version 3.1, but it never worked properly anyway)
So I tried recreating my reports and the db froze. Went to my old one, and the reports froze. Went to the VBox and it works. I think I am getting a headache. Kexi has such a nice reporting system, which is the main reason why I have been using it.
I don't mind uploading the files somewhere and making it available for someone to look at. I would continue using kexi 2.9 as it honestly seems more stable but Kubuntu is miserable and keeps messing around when I try and downgrade...
PS. I could place the file on my google drive so long and make it available publicly?

Regards
David

David, you can send the files to me, staniek@kde.org.

I would assure you that 2.9 is really less stable than 3.2 unless we missed some specific place that needs more attention :)

OK there are two things
- the report issue - identified now as performance issue - fix is in testing now for 3.2.1: https://phabricator.kde.org/D25108
- CSV issue - to be checked

Cheers.
